St. Albans Gospel Festival 2014 launches the Bazil Meade Gospel Music Academy


Sunday 16th March 2014

A packed day of inspiration, tuition, song and music marks the official launch of the Bazil Meade Gospel Music Academy. Founder and Director of the renowned London Community Choir, Bazil Meade, comes to the heart of UK Christian witness for this historic inauguration of a visionary Academy, aimed at providing individuals with a unique experience of Gospel Music.

This not to be missed event includes a morning of reflection and Praise, featuring some of the fun, favorite ‘old time’ Gospel Songs. The afternoon will be packed with a selection of Gospel Music Academy Master classes, including a vocal workshop for Children, in addition to a number of Musical Instrument tuition classes having an emphasis on that particular ‘Gospel’ feel!

A number of complimentary fringe activities, including Gospel@CafeNES – the adjoining restaurant which will open especially to facilitate festival events, will offer a great environment for lunch or relaxation, all to make it a superb day out for all of the family.

Mayor of St.Albans Councillor Annie Brewster joins the headline festival performance from the Academy’s St. Albans pilot-project students, alongside other Gospel Artistes, in an evening concert featuring the magnificent London Community Gospel Choir! (in aid of the Living Room Project – St. Albans).

An event which is sure to set your feet to dancing!   


9:00am –10:00am: Women of the Gospel

roselen_giovannaRoselen Boerner Faccio from Milan, who leads one of Italy’s fastest growing missions and Giovanna Payne, a St. Albans Religious Education teacher, wife and mother of 3, share in the powerful experience of the ‘Good News’, Prayer and the Power of the Word. This is sure to be a very special early bird session, followed by a time for meeting new friends over breakfast or just a coffee at CafeNES!

9:00am –10:00am: Men in the Marketplace!

Lionel WallaceFestival Director Lionel Wallace hosts a session for men to connect with some leading motivators, including speakers from the local Full Gospel Businessman’s Fellowship, looking at key ideas that impact the effective role of men in the community, as well as habits which can be applied to turn the challenge of relationships, family and business life into extraordinary success…. then off to Gospel@CafeNES!

11:00am – 12:30pm: Sing His Praises!

The Morning Celebration is loaded with some of those old time Gospel favourites and provides an ideal opportunity for those who want to experience the power of Praise!

With contributions from local and international groups, this is going to be a real ‘tambourines’ session, together with some special renditions lead by the St. Albans New Testament Church of God Singers, bringing that distinct ‘Caribbean’ rhythm to your feet!

Donations to the LCGC Charity will be taken during this Session.

Whether you are a church goer or just love the feel of joyful singing, this midmorning session is bound to set you up for days of ‘shower’ singing. Definitely worth giving up a Sunday Morning lie-in for.

Why not think of your favourite Gospel song and put in a request at – If we can sing it – the musicians will play it !!!

12:45pm – 3:00pm: Film, Fringe, Food and Fellowship

Whether you want a time for refueling, relaxing or recreation, the variety of expected fringe activities are set to keep the adrenaline flowing.

Experience the spirit of the festival over lunch with Gospel@CafeNES or pick up a taste of the Caribbean on the finge, whilst enjoying a selection of creative art demonstrations, including some entertaining screenings and promotions, with contributions from the Sabaoth International Film Festival.

1:30pm – 3:30pm: Bazil Meade Gospel Music Academy Master Classes

Matthew BrownThe afternoon includes Gospel Music Masterclasses hosted by acclaimed 2013 Young Drummer of the Year – Matthew Brown, Keyboard extraordinaire – Jason Morrison and ‘slap that bass’ legend Sam Lynch. A parallel vocal masterclass is also offered, facilitated by some of the finest LCGC Tutors, for those wishing to take their singing talents to a different level! This will be followed at 3pm by a special Children’s Gospel Choir Workshop.

6:30pm: Gospel Concert, featuring The London Community Gospel Choir

London Community Gospel ChoirMayor of St. Albans Councillor Annie Brewster joins the inaugural performance of the St. Albans Gospel Choir (with members drawn from various parts of the community) which launches the Bazil Meade Gospel Music Academy, alongside other Gospel Artistes.
The evening fundraising concert in aid of the Living Room Project – St. Albans, is rounded off by none other than the world renowned London Community Gospel Choir.
