30 Choir Festival

Southbank Centre did the gospel rock as thirty international and national choirs descended on this world-famous arts centre for LCGC’s 30 year anniversary over the bank holiday weekend of 4 to 6 May 2013.

Renowned gospel music artists and vocal coaches Priscilla Jones-Campbell, Daniel Thomas, Audrey Lawrence-Mattis, Stephanie Oyerinde, Ruth Waldron and Becky Thomas led expert workshops in choral singing, choir directing, solo singing and choir dynamics and techniques.

Visiting choirs had unique performance opportunities across Southbank Centre’s open-air stages over the weekend as part of Chorus, its annual singing festival, which kicked off the summer-long Festival of Neighbourhood with MasterCard.
On Sunday 5 May, LCGC celebrated with a celebrity concert featuring soul star Jocelyn Brown and XFactor finalist Jahmene Douglas, Joy Singers Choir (Italy), Harmony Gospel Choir (Manchester University) and 2020 (youth choir, London).

The concert climaxed with 1169 voices breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest gospel choir.
It was truly a magnificent weekend!

Choirs taking part were The BIG Sing Gospel Choir (Essex), The Soulful (Ireland), Godalming Community Gospel Choir (Surrey), Malå Gospel Choir (Sweden), Joy Singers Choir (Italy), The Line Up (Ireland), The B.I.G.
